Dalam bahasa Indonesia ada yang namanya surat resmi dan surat tidak resmi. Contoh surat tidak resmi yaitu surat pribadi untuk sahabat. Berbeda dengan surat resmi yang harus menggunakan bahasa formal, dalam surat sahabat boleh menggunakan bahasa sehari-hari.
Ketika hendak membuat surat pribadi, hal paling pokok yang perlu
dipikirkan adalah isinya. Menentukan untuk apa surat itu ditulis, apakah
untuk berbagi cerita, menyampaikan rasa rindu, menyampaikan kabar
tertentu, dan lain sebagainya.
Sistematika Surat Pribadi
Meski bukan merupakan surat resmi, penulisan surat pribadi juga ada
sistematikanya. Memang tidak melanggar hukum kalau tidak mengikuti
sistematika ini, hanya sebagai keindahan dan keteraturan. Berikut
sistematika penulisan surat pribadi.
a. Tempat dan tanggal
Tempat dan tanggal memuat tempat di mana surat dibuat dan kapan waktu
penulisan surat tersebut. Nama tempat dalam surat pribadi tidak perlu
ditulis lengkap. Misalnya, Bandung, 15 Juli 2013.
b. Salam pembuka
Salam pembuka berisi ucapan salam kepada penerima surat. Misal ucapan
salam yang pendek yaitu salam kangen, salam rindu, dan sebagainya.
c. Pembuka
Paragraf pembuka atau paragraf awal bisa berisi tentang ungkapan rasa
senang, menyampaikan kabar keluarga, dan bertanya tentang kegiatan yang
dilakukan.
d. Isi
Isi merupakan bagian inti dari surat. Berisi hal pokok yang hendak disampaikan melalui surat.
e. Penutup
Berisi kata-kata untuk mengakhiri surat dan juga harapan agar penerima membalas surat dari pengirim.
f. Pengirim
Berisi informasi pengirim surat.

Salam kangen,
Halo, Bila.
Tak terasa sudah tujuh bulan kita tak bertemu. Senang rasanya bisa
mengirim kabar kepadamu. Bagaimana kabarmu dan keluarga sekarang? Kami
sekeluarga di sini dalam keadaan sehat. Mudah-mudahan kamu dan keluarga
juga dalam keadaan sehat-sehat saja. Oh iya, kudengar dari Papa, kamu
terpilih menjadi pengurus OSIS, ya? Wah, pasti sibuk dong kamu sekrang.
Pantas saja belum ada kabar darimu.
Bila,
sahabatku. Kamu sekarang sudah punya teman baru dan sudah jadi orang
sibuk, tapi kamu nggak lupa sama aku kan? Liburan akhir tahun pelajaran
nanti kami sekeluarga punya rencana untuk menjenguk nenek di Bandung.
Karena aku kangen ingin bertemu kamu, aku minta pada Papa agar mampir ke
rumahmu dan menginap di rumahmu, mungkin untuk dua atau tiga hari saja.
Boleh nggak? Kalau nggak bleh, berarti kamu yang harus berlibur ke
rumahku di Semarang. Nah, kalau kamu ke Semarang, aku akan mengajak kamu
berkeliling kota Semarang. Banyak tempat yang seru dan mengasyikkan lho
di Semarang. Bagaimana? Aku yang menginap di rumahmu atau kamu yang
akan menginap di rumahku? Nggak usah bingung ya.
Bila, sudah
dulu ya. Maaf belum bisa berkata banyak lagi karena minggu ini di
sekolahku sedang ada pekan ulangan hari kedua. Aku harus banyak belajar
biar bisa pintar seperti kamu. Aku tunggu balasan surat darimu segera.

Surat Sahabat dan Era Globalisasi
Di era globalisasi di mana pesatnya perkembangan teknologi, komunikasi
jadi semakin mudah. Kini sudah ada layanan surat elektronik untuk saling
berkirim pesan di internet. Selain itu, ada juga jejaring sosial yang
mempermudah komunikasi jarak jauh. Di tambah lagi dengan adanya ponsel
yang dapat dengan mudah digunakan untuk saling berkirim pesan melalui
layanan SMS.
Zaman dulu, untuk berkirim pesan jarak jauh, orang biasa menggunakan
surat. Hubungan persahabatan dapat terjalin dengan komunikasi melalui
surat. Sahabat pena, itulah sebutannya. Istilah itu agaknya sudah tak
relevan lagi di zaman sekarang di mana orang bisa dengan mudah berkirim
pesan melalui internet. Istilahnya bukan sahabat pena lagi, melainkan
sahabat maya untuk orang yang menjalin persahabatan melalui dunia maya
(internet).
